Cover Girls

The Middle

One woman became the spark, igniting a friendship between women who otherwise would never have met.

Like a fine wine

A gourmet friendship develops between three women who celebrate life’s joys and trials.

Recipe for a lasting friendship: Gather three fabulous women into one room. Combine with gourmet cheeses and fine wine. Add generous amounts of laughter and wisdom. Let marinate for several months. Enjoy in good company.

It’s all about the girls

The friendship crafted between four St. Peter-area women may not necessarily reflect the tight-knit intimacy of “BFFs,” though it does include companionable afternoon gatherings of lattes and conversation in the local coffee shop.

Instead, Sheri Sander, Mary Spear, Jane Timmerman and Patti Kelly use their connection as a catalyst for the creation of friendships between their younger counterparts, namely local girls taking part in a new St. Peter program called “Girls on the Run.”

Faithful Friends

There are companionships and then there are friendships.

What Beth Krause and Wendi Hansen have together is most definitely a friendship – an honest-to-God make-the-world-a-better-place connection. Combining their mutual interests in horses and dedication to their Christian values, the two women have taken the ministry of volunteerism to a praiseworthy level.

Friends on the move

Seven years ago, two Owatonna friends were settled into their respective careers, unsuspecting of the auspicious changes that were about to come into their lives.

Katie McIntosh spent her days working in family practice nursing at the Owatonna Mayo Clinic.

Meanwhile, her friend Ann Paulson was employed in the Violent Crime Division of the Steele County Attorney’s office.

But Paulson’s true career aspiration was of a very different interest. What she really wanted to do was to take ownership of a bike shop.

Volunteering strengthens friendships between Faribault women

It is seconds before the clock strikes noon. The atmosphere is tense as dozens — even hundreds — of women huddle around tables laden with designer gift baskets in a race to be the final bidder on their basket of choice.

Sue Erpenbach approaches the microphone to announce the closing signal: “Put your pencils down.”

Cheers of hopeful victory resonate in the air as women stroll to their seats to engage in the first course of a scrumptious luncheon. For the final results of the silent auction, they must wait.

It is the “Holiday Gathering” at Bethlehem Academy of Faribault, a traditional fundraiser organized by a group of women whose motivation is the support of a school that has been a catalyst in creating an infinite number of friendships throughout several generations of time.

Relationships bloom between adopted girls, families

When Beth Christensen and Nancy Rinn met at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport 12 years ago, there was an instant connection.

By the time the two Minnesotans (Christensen from Northfield and Rinn from Chanhassen at the time) stepped off the plane in Vietnam 30 hours later, it was as if they had known each other their whole lives.

Life-changing experiences tend to have that effect on people.

‘Three Baristas’ credit River Rock Coffe with friendship

Alli Linn, Annie Hakes and Ashley Keul have a lot in common.

The three friends and roommates love to shop for different items at thrift stores in Mankato and across the region, enjoy hanging out at St. Peter and Mankato establishments, and pretty much just live to have fun.

But the one thing that originally brought them together and keeps the bond strong is River Rock Coffee in downtown St. Peter. Without it, all three say this unique friendship never would have evolved.

Golfing girlfriends enjoy the links, of course

There’s an old adage in golf that goes something like this: “Any day on the golf course beats a day at the office.”

That has never been more true for three girlfriends who meet regularly at the Owatonna Country Club for a round of golf and a lot of laughs.
